This here’s a proper release of my take on the classic Motown song “Heat Wave” by Martha & The Vandellas. It was recorded a while back with Brian Zieske at Gallery of Carpet studios in Villa Park, Illinois. I’m currently holed up in my room, and in my head, writing songs for my next album, so I wanted to give you guys a little something in the meantime. Download and share as you please! (Right Click + Save Link As...)

Also, shows are few and far between while I focus on my new album, but I'll always find time to make it back home to The Union in Naperville. Friday, April 29th, folks. Mark your iCal.

Happy Spring,
Kevin Andrew Prchal

Not long ago I was introduced to a picture book called Lost & Found. What struck me most about this book, was not just the heartwarming story of the boy and the lost penguin, but also the remarkable illustrations throughout. My curiosity led me to discover more books by this author including The Heart And The Bottle, and The Incredible Book-Eating Boy.

The author’s name is Oliver Jeffers and he’s creating some of the most beautifully unique paintings and picture books today. On a whim, I reached out to Oliver and asked if he would be willing to design a shirt for me. To my surprise, he replied within a couple days and agreed to take on this project.

What he created is a bit surreal, I must say. Seeing my name written in a similar style to these books I’ve come to know and love. In the design you’ll notice a scribble in my last name. This is Oliver’s tiny reminder that yes, my last name has only one vowel.

I will be printing shirts in the next month or so, but until then, do yourselves a favor and check out his work at www.oliverjeffers.com.

I present to you, in it’s simplest, most traditional form; Amazing Grace. Featuring members of the beloved barbershop singers, The Chorus of DuPage.

This has always been my favorite hymn. So many feelings come from just hearing the opening words. Every Christmas Eve as a kid I’d kick my little legs in the church pew, hopelessly trying to tame the excitement for what the morning would bring. Really, all I was doing was embarrassing my Mom and distracting my Grandma. We’d all rise, turn to page ____ in our hymnal’s, and I’d stand on the seat, looking over my Mom’s shoulder ready to read and sing along. This song would instantly, like some sort of December spell, straighten me to my feet and demand my every last bit of attention. We all have our versions of Christmas that we like to bottle and relive, and this particular song contributes greatly to mine.

Catch my performance this FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17th at Koten Chapel in Downtown Naperville alongside my band The Wheeling Birds. Supporting will be, but of course, The Chorus of DuPage and folk swooners Little Light. We’ll be recording for a live performance documentary that night so don’t miss out! We really want you to share in this with us. Get your tickets here.

See you Friday!
Kevin

I'm happy to announce that I will be a part of The Union's five-year anniversary show taking place on Friday, May 7th. The early show starting at 7:00 will feature music from The Wayside and Andrew Osegna, followed by the late show featuring myself and the almighty Joe Pug at 9:30. I can assure you this event will sell out, so be sure to get your tickets while you can at the Union's website.

Fear not, city friends. I know you avoid wandering into suburbia at all costs, so I have a show for you as well. Tuesday, May 11th at Schubas supporting Leslie & The Badgers and Ferraby Lionheart. Two incredible acts whom which I have the fortune of sharing the stage with at my favorite venue in Chicago. You can order your tickets HERE.
